If I didn't work, you wouldn't live.

I'm getting really tired with work, in the past 2years I have hopped jobs 4 times for numerous reasons.
I'm sick of the long hours, I'm tired from getting up so early, I'm getting bored of the continuous negativity that is involved with the calls I take.
And all this for what? So a percentage of my wages can go to those that sit on their arse all day everyday, without a care in the world, with all the time in the world to do what they please, when they please?
Some people don't work because of medical reasons, some people don't work because of stress or mental health issues. But let me tell you now, workers are under a heck of a lot more stress than those that don't work. Worried about hitting targets at work, worried about getting to work on time, worried about the alarm not going off in the morning and being late for an 8:15am start.

I could quite easily walk into my doctor tomorrow and tell him I have depression and then go sign on at the job centre. The reason I don't? My pride. Pride is something a lot of people don't have and I'm glad to say I still have mine.

Why don't you ask me what it feels like to be a freak?

So, we all know that people stop and stare at those of us who are a bit alternative.
You would usually only expect this behaviour from children, but who is to blame for that? Who is at the core of why the children do it? That's right, the parents.
Normally other's ignorance does not bother me, but recently it has been annoying me quite a lot.

Holly, my girlfriend, told me something that happened to her a few years ago - Holly was in a book store in the children's section looking for an Enid Blyton book she read as a child herself and a Mother came up to her and asked if she could leave because she had "made her child cry because she is scary".
The thought of this happening to anybody, let alone my own girlfriend, infuriated me! It's not our fault that parent's who don't agree with our fashion choice have sheltered their little ones from it.
Children stare at those who are different because they think we are freaks, but the truth is that we are just something they don't understand or haven't experienced. And that isn't their fault, it's the parents who have put it into their young minds that anything that doesn't come in plain, boring styles is wrong.
Despite the media exposure of Lady Gaga and others, those of us who are not famous for our outrageous style choices are still considered weirdos and freaks.

We should all be free to express ourselves anyway we want to. Whether that's through clothing, make-up, music or art.
As Madonna said: "Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another"
I couldn't agree more, why should we be forced to follow a trend? Why should we be told what we can and cannot do to express ourselves?

Be who you want to be.
Peace out
